The Apology Of Socrates: A Closer Examination

In 399 BCE an elderly gentlemen named Socrates was brought before an Athenian jury. He was charged with corrupting the youth of Athens and not believing in the gods. At his trial Socrates tried to prove that he was innocent of the charges against him but it was to no ava .... Part II of Essay .... beliefs then you could not call them your own. Three men brought Socrates to trial: Meletus, Anytus, and Lycon. Together they represented the "old school" that was frightened and angered by Socrates philosophies. At the beginning of the text they have finished with their prosecution and Socrates is beginning his defense.
