Emma went from constantly thinking about another man to a woman that no one would dare even thinking about accusing her of even considering adultery. There was also another moment when she decided to go see the priest at the church (part II, chapter 7) to seek spiritual guidance. The priest, however, seems to assume that all she needs is a cup of tea and sends her on her way. Once Emma gets home, her daughter seems to want to console Emma, but Emma just pushes her away and yells at the child ....
