A Comparison Of Hero Ethics: Ancient To Modern
Part I of Essay
For as long as there has been storytelling in this world, people have looked to heroes for guidance and motivation, the only thing that separates ancient heroes from modern heroes, is their code of ethics. I will be comparing two heroes of their respective eras, Beowulf a .... Part II of Essay .... and protect. Another painfully obvious difference is the rewards they both receive.
Beowulf is a hero, but he has some alternate motives. He is after fame, fortune and trying to live up to dear old dad’s name. Batman just shrugs off the fame, he does this so much that he has two different identities, one for public life and one for fighting crime. I think that this is ironic because it seems that nowadays we have a very high materialistic view on life and yet many of our heroes do not go after fame and fortune.
